Council applications are trickling in

The publisher of Outlook Columbus and a former administrator for the Ohio Department of Mental Health are the first people to apply for the two Columbus City Council seats that will open up in January.

In his application letter, he says he wants to focus on "industry and jobs, public safety, social consciousness and justice, quality of life, and financial stewardship."

From 2004 until January, she was an administrator at the Ohio Department of Mental Health where she said she provided "outreach and service to people who suffer from severe and persistent mental health and their families."

She listed 14 major issues that the city faces, including maintaining financial liquidity, preventing crime, helping homeowners avoid foreclosure and assisting the unemployed.
