That's why he has led the effort in the Senate to expedite the short sale process. His proposal would require banks to respond to reasonable short sale offers within 45 days.
And at a time when one in four home sales in Ohio involves a distressed borrower, Sherrod Brown is pushing to extend a vital tax exemption, so distressed homeowners are not forced to pay tax on money they've already lost with cash they don't have.
Sherrod Brown also has stood up to overreaching government regulators. He pushed back against proposed Dodd-Frank regulations that would mandate minimum 20% down payments for qualifying residential mortgages.
Sherrod Brown has a proven record in the Senate of fighting to protect the issues that matter most to REALTORS®. And as a member of the Senate Banking Committee, Sherrod gets to weigh in on issues like how our clients find safe and affordable financing to purchase homes.
