Yesterday Was A Big Day At HRC As First Marriages Are Held. Plus A List Of Media Stories

Yesterday was a very big day at HRC. While it’s hard to capture the feeling of being there, here are a few statistics to give you a sense of what happened in the building. We had three weddings before 10:00 am in the Equality Forum with 120 guests. We estimate we had 85-95 representatives from multiple media outlets, the most we’ve ever had at our building. There were satellite trucks parked around the block. We had an ample police presence but we did not have a single protester. More than 9,000 people watched the ceremonies live online. 14,000 have watched the YouTube video.

Also, we were able to book Sultan Shakir on CNN to discuss what today means for the LGBT community. He did an excellent job speaking about the personal and emotional side of today's events.
